Lachlan entered 3 photos, all with very interesting insights on the theme "Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all". 

This year's focus is on ecological connections, biodiversity, and fostering an inclusive appreciation of science for everyone.

An unknown species of skipper butterfly providing the crucial ecosystem role of pollination. It is closely related to the Altona Skipper Butterfly, an endangered species nesting only on Chaffy Saw Sedge

Lachlan standing inside a hollowed-out messmate. Ancient trees provide life even beyond their own, especially as habitat for moss, lichen, birds, possums, and fungi. This photo highlights the crucial importance of protecting old-growth forests and old trees.

Unknown to most Australians, there is a stunning diversity of native bees. In Victoria, all bees are solitary or gregarious, meaning the female bees build their own nest, stocking it with food and sealing it up with a single egg inside
