REC Hurstbridge Wattle Festival Excursion

The Hurstbridge Wattle Festival marked the Railway Enthusiast Club's second excursion

In comparison to the City Loop and Sandringham excursion, this excursion was held with two of our fellow selective schools! In collaboration with Nossal High School and Melbourne High School, the REC headed up to Hurstbridge for the festival.

Hosted annually on the last Sunday of August, this festival is an exciting opportunity to see the Steam train at Hurstbridge and to marvel at the number of community run stalls all around the festival. It celebrates the arrival of spring, with beautiful wattles growing all around the place, hence the name. Located right next to Hurstbridge Railway Station, the festival gives us the chance to explore a new line and photograph a variety of different things in the area.

It was crowded! Very, very crowded! Nonetheless, our attendees managed to see the better side of things; such as enjoying the trip to and from Hurstbridge, and the Steam train, along with the Tait train.

Needless to say, everyone had loads of fun! Whether it was attendees going down the Giant Slide, or waiting in line for Gemstones, we managed to enjoy the lively festival itself!
