What an exciting fortnight it has been in Foundation as we wrapped up a wonderful Term 3 filled with learning, fun and new experiences!

On Wednesday, we were lucky to welcome some local firefighters to our school. They taught us about safe and unsafe fires, what to do in an emergency, and the importance of having a safe meeting place at home. 

The children loved exploring the fire truck, learning about the equipment firefighters use, and even having a turn spraying the fire hose.

On Friday, our Athletics Carnival was a huge highlight. It was wonderful to see students enthusiastically participating in each event, trying their best and cheering on their teammates. We were so proud of the sportsmanship, teamwork and positive attitudes shown throughout the day. Thank you to all the families who came along to support and encourage our students.

In Literacy, we have now learnt our final Initial Code sounds: v, x and y. Students have been confidently using these sounds in their reading and writing. We have also learnt all tricky words through to Set 9 in their reading diaries.

As we head into the holidays, we encourage families to keep reading with your child whenever you can. Sharing a story together, talking about the pictures and having a chat about what you have read are all great ways to keep those reading skills growing. It is also helpful to practise counting in everyday situations — counting toys, steps, cars or anything else you can find!
