Grade 4 News
What a wonderful term it has been in Year 4!
We have been busy learning and exploring across all areas of the curriculum, building our knowledge and developing new skills along the way.
In English, we have been enjoying our novel study of The Wild Robot. Students have explored the characters, setting and themes of the story while developing their comprehension, vocabulary and ability to respond to increasingly complex texts. We have also been developing our persuasive writing skills, learning how to clearly communicate an opinion and support our ideas with reasons and evidence. Students have worked hard to structure their arguments, select persuasive language and consider how to engage their audience.
In Maths, we have been strengthening our understanding of number and operations. Students have been revising and applying strategies for multiplication and division, including using efficient written and mental strategies to solve problems. We have also been developing our understanding of fractions and decimals, making connections between tenths and hundredths and representing these in different ways. Students have been encouraged to explain their mathematical thinking and apply their knowledge to a range of problems.
In Religion, we have been learning about Living Jesus’ Mission. Students have explored how Jesus showed love, compassion, forgiveness and service to others throughout his life. They have reflected on how we can follow Jesus’ example in our own lives by caring for others, making positive choices and responding to the needs of those around us. Students have considered practical ways they can live out Jesus’ mission through their words, actions and relationships with others.
It has been wonderful to see the growth in confidence, knowledge and independence across Year 4 this term. We would like to thank our students and families for their continued support and for another wonderful term of learning, growth and fun.
