Performing Arts

 The Instrumental students continue to showcase their gifts and talents at assembly each week! Students are encourage to place their name down on the Assembly Roster so have a variety of students performing every Monday.  

The Year Three students learnt about playing half beat rhythms and tied notes. They have played along with a fun Jamaican folk song, 'Hill an' Gully Rider.' The Year Four students have worked hard to play the notes of the C Major Scale and I enjoy seeing the keyboard students playing chords as well as the melody to provide an accompaniment for the French tune, 'Frere Jacques.'  

The Year Four students been learning different rhythms as they learn the notes of the scale. They played the universal tune, 'Happy Birthday' showing their skill in playing a 7 note melody.

The Year Five students studied the origin of Jazz in the early 20th Century in New Orleans. This style blends ragtime, blues, ragtime and marching band influences. Louie Armstrong was one of the key Jazz musicians in the style of music.  

Students played 'Fascinating Rhythms' 1924 composed by George Gershwin with complicated syncopated rhythms on keyboards and tuned percussion.  

The Year Six students have worked well in small groups to memorise and dramatise a short, humorous script. They have selected appropriate costumes and props to bring their characters to life, demonstrating key drama skills such as expressive voice projection, effective use of facial expressions, purposeful movement, and strong characterisation. Students collaborated respectfully with their peers and performed with growing confidence and enthusiasm, engaging their audience and bringing humour to their presentations.
