Year 5/6 News

As part of our Cyber Safety learning, we completed an exciting escape room-style activity where students worked in groups to solve a range of challenges focused on different issues they may encounter when staying safe online, both day and night. It was fantastic to see students working collaboratively, engaging enthusiastically in the learning and even acting out different online safety scenarios. As a final challenge, students created their own code phrase to help remind themselves of the important strategies they can use to stay safe online.
In Maths, we have started our angles unit. Students have been learning to classify and identify different types of angles, as well as using protractors to accurately measure angles and determine their degrees. We have been developing our confidence with using a protractor correctly and applying our knowledge to solve a range of angle problems.
In Religion, we continued our learning about Mary MacKillop and explored the different aspects of her life. In groups, students created a poster focusing on one of six “wells” representing different areas of wellbeing: intellectual, creative, physical, social, emotional and, of course, spiritual. Students then presented their posters to the class, sharing what they had discovered about how each aspect was reflected in Mary MacKillop’s life.
Congratulations to our St Fidelis students who qualified for the next round of SSV Coburg District Athletics Championships. You all represented our school well and should be proud of your efforts. Special congratulations to Skyler who qualified for the next round in term 4!
As we come to the end of another busy term, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our students and families for the support you have given throughout the term. We truly appreciate all the hard work our students have put into their learning, as well as the support from parents and families - from providing lovely lunches and snacks to helping with lifts, homework and everything in between! We hope everyone has a safe, happy and well-deserved break and takes some time to relax and recharge. We look forward to seeing everyone next term for a very busy and exciting final term of primary school for our year 6s!
