Physical Education News

Dear Tarneit Rise Primary School Families and Friends
Welcome back for the second PE newsletter of Term 4. All students are now in a new unit, so we have a lot to update you on.
Shoutouts!
A special shoutout to Riya on completing the 10km Run at the Nike Melbourne Marathon. An outstanding effort from her, and we’re so proud!
Over the first 4 weeks of term 4, we’ve had so many awesome efforts from our Division teams.
Volleyball Girls - 4th Place
Softball Boys - 1st Place
Softball Girls - 1st Place
Basketball Girls - 2nd Place
Tennis Girls - 1st Place
Cricket Girls - 1st Place
Cricket Boys - 2nd Place
What an incredible job done by all these Grade 6 students.
Preps
Preps have now completed their final two assessments for 2026. Their Fundamental movement skills assessment has shown great results and given us awesome insight into their learning over the past 12 months. We have assessed forward rolls, which is a great indicator of their vestibular system development also!
Grade 1s and 2s
Grade 1 and 2 students have also been assessed on their fundamental movement skills and forward rolls this term. Grade 2s have also been assessed on their forehand strike, preparing them for Term 1 next year, which begins with net and wall games. For our Grade 1 students, we have one final year of focussing on isolated skills before we begin game sense.
Grade 3s and 4s
The Grade 3 and 4 students have been hard at work honing their skills and game sense in net and wall games using the game of downball. We have had a little break to assess their fundamental movement skills, and will be back to downball to be assessed in weeks 5-7. We’ve seen some great downball being played already, and can’t wait to see these results.
Grades 5s and 6s
Grade 5 and 6 students have also been smashing their net and wall games content, with badminton and tennis respectively. Focusing on court positioning, attacking space and playing a range of different shots to beat your opponent. We’ve now assessed the fundamental movement skills, with some incredible effort seen. Final assessments are taking place in weeks 5 and 7, meaning we will have all we need to report on your child's ability in terms 3 and 4.
