Foundation
Foundation students have had a wonderful time exploring with clay this term. They have made pinch pots and we can't wait to put them in the kiln! We have also looked at artist Alma Thomas and made collages using colour and pattern.
Grade 1
Grade One have enjoyed learning about Australian artist Sheree Smith. We explored abstract art and used colour and line to create our own Sheree Smith inspired abstract artworks.
Grade 2
Grade 2 students have been learning about Australian artists Pete Cromer and Anna Blatman. They did an amazing job drawing their own bird and then painting their art using Anna Blatman's colourful art as inspiration.
Grade 3
Students in grade 3 have learnt about the wonderful artist Yayoi Kusama. We looked at a wide range of her artworks and exhibitions. We then created our own flowers inspired by her work!
Grade 4
Grade 4 have explored and discussed abstract art this term. They learnt about abstract artist Janet Skates. They then did a fantastic job creating abstract art using her artwork to inspire them.
Grade 5
Students in grade 5 have enjoyed working with clay this term to create their own monster. They used a pinch pot as a base and then added their own creative flair to make a unique monster. Once they are fired in the kiln we will paint them!
Grade 6
Grade 6 started the term learning about artist Wayne Thiebaud. They then made their own mixed-media cake based on his work. Students have also enjoyed exploring clay and creating their own mini plant holder. They learnt about the importance of clay slip and score which is an essential pottery technique used to securely join two pieces of clay together.

An update from the Japanese Room! This term, our wonderful Japanese Captains are running an origami competition, see details below. We have many students heading to Japan soon, please feel free to share photos with Pond Sensei to add to our "We went to Japan" travel board.
