PDBArt Project:

We are off to England!

We have exciting news with Tessa Slater and Kimi Jiang’s (both of Year 8) collaborative mixed media art work and William James' sculpture being selected for  the 2024 PDBArt exhibition that will be held in  September at the University of Bristol in England. Their work was also selected to go on the 2025 PDBArt calendar that will be sent across the world later in the year. Congratulations to the three of them!

And also well done to our fantastic year 8 students who late last year completed and sent their amazing art that blended scientific concepts with artistic expression work to the PDBArt . The PDBArt organisers were impressed by all of our fabulous entries.

In Kimi and Tessa's art collaboration they discovered that dermatitis is caused by genetics and allergies and is often linked to asthma and hay fever. They have depicted a dermatitis affected hand reaching out of the canvas to convey how painful and uncomfortable the condition can be and how sometimes you just want to magically escape.

William’s artwork comments on the serious dangers that vaping and tobacco products are doing to people’s health globally. He found out that the continued use and exposure to the harsh chemicals causes approximately 8 million deaths around the world each year. William has represented the morphing shapes of the lung cancer protein: Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor taking over the human form.

What a fantastic achievement for students at WHS!
