Student Voice Council

A Day in May! A Day in June!

In May, the Student Voice Council organized a day of activities to acknowledge and raise awareness of IDAHOBIT. Inclusion and Respect for Diversity are two important priorities at Warrandyte High School and this was a day all about promoting awareness, inclusion and respect for members of the LGBTIQ+ Community.

The activities on this day included the Year 7 and 8 students participating in a workshop about Respecting Diversity which was facilitated by a member of the Warrandyte High School Wellbeing Team.

Members of the School Voice Council made delicious cupcakes which were very colourful, indeed every colour of the rainbow was covered.

Moreover, members of the School Voice Council facilitated a "Guess how many jellybeans are in the rainbow coloured jar" competition. All proceeds going to MINUS 18, an organisation providing support for young members of the LGBTIQ+ Community.

A DAY IN JUNE - FUNDRAISING FOR WHS ENVIRONMENT DAY

The environment is another priority here at Warrandyte High School. In Term 3, we will be hosting our first every Environment Day, a day of simultaneous working bees around the school where students will have the opportunity to contribute positively and productively towards the Warrandyte High School environment.

Of course, so many noble and worth environment projects all involve a cost. Whether it be planting or painting, there are materials required and materials cost money. To raise funds for this upcoming day of working bee projects, the Student Voice Council, on a day in June organised a plethora of fundraising activites. These included the selling of cupcakes at recess and lunchtime (which the students baked the prior afternoon) and a student led TRIVIA which took place at lunchtime.

It was wonderful to see staff and students alike supporting this magnanimous gesture from the Student Voice Council who are indeed raising funds for a worthy cause.

It is with great pleasure also, that I am able to announce both the Lions Club of Warrandyte and  Rotary of Warrandyte have each donated funds. What a great Environment Day it will be!
