Community Noticeboard

Warrandyte High School have recently installed state-of-the-art Basketball rings and backboards thanks to a significant grant from the wonderful team at Warrandyte Bendigo Bank. After months of planning and negotiating, Warrandyte High School were successful in applying for a grant last year which was established to support the local community. In much need of an upgrade, the basketball rings and backboard system run on an electronic pulley. This long-needed upgrade was only possible through the hard work of the Warrandyte High School Council, in conjunction with Bendigo Bank Warrandyte, who worked tirelessly on the application, collating quotes for the project and ensuring its installation from start to finish. It is fantastic to see Stage 1 of a 2 stage plan now complete – and even great that it benefits not only the students who attend Warrandyte High School, but also the wider community. The Warrandyte Basketball Club regularly make use of the gym facilities at Warrandyte High School and this upgrade is long overdue and certainly very appreciated by all who are now able to use these great new rings and backboard. Students at Warrandyte High have reported that this equipment is much better to use, particularly during their Trial of Discovery Program (Top of Your Game: Basketball). Their Year 7 students have also been making great use of this equipment as they prepare for the Inter-School Basketball Competition in Term 3. Principal, Rachel Lynch, says that ‘without a significant financial commitment and contribution from our local community, such as we have had from the Bendigo bank, it is so difficult for small schools to find the money to spend upgrading facilities. We are so very lucky to have had the support we do from Bendigo Bank and look forward to a continued positive partnership in the future.’
