Term Three has been a busy and exciting term in the library, with lots of wonderful events and activities taking place!

Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Premiers’ Reading Challenge has wrapped up for another year, with 144 students completing the Challenge. Collectively, our students have read over 6,500+ books since March! 

All students who completed the Challenge will receive a signed certificate from the Premier of Victoria, Ben Carroll. Certificates usually arrive towards the end of Term Four. Due to the large number of students who completed the Challenge this year, certificates will be handed out during students’ regular library sessions.

2026 Book of the Year Awards

The winners of the CBCA 2026 Children’s Book of the Year Awards were announced in August, with students eagerly waiting to see if their favourite books were chosen. The winners were:

Picture Book of the Year: Once I was a Giant by Zeno Sworder

Early Childhood Book of the Year: The Emperor’s Egg by Rae Tan

Fiction for Younger Readers: Inked by Karen Wasson. 

Unfortunately, the students' favourite, Derek by Anne Donaldson, didn’t take home the gold, but it was runner-up in the Early Childhood category – a fantastic achievement!

Book Week and Dress-up Day

Book Week was jam-packed with stories, activities and plenty of fun in classrooms, at Lunch Club and during lunchtime in the library. 

I always love seeing the amazing and creative costumes each year during Book Week, and the standard of costumes this year was outstanding! A huge well done to all the families who helped their children get creative and put together such wonderful handmade costumes. Your time, effort and creativity were truly appreciated!

Book Fair

Thank you to all the families who came along and supported our annual Book Fair. A special thank you to all the fathers and VIPs who squeezed into the space on the last day of the sale! 

We are thrilled to share that $7000 was raised over the four days, earning our school $2,100 in Scholastic reward points. These points can be used over the next twelve months to purchase new books and literacy resources for students across all year levels.
