Evie and Rhino

Sadness, joy, grief, despair, courage, hope and connection were just some of the powerful themes and emotions we experienced while reading Evie and Rhino by Neridah McMullin.

Beginning with a dramatic shipwreck, the story takes us on a moving journey that explores the unlikely and beautiful connection between a young girl, Evie, and a rhinoceros.

Evie and Rhino was our text study for the term, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story, its characters and its important messages. Throughout the unit, we used the novel to inspire and challenge us as both readers and writers, encouraging us to think deeply, make connections and develop our own ideas.

I really enjoyed Evie and Rhino, it was a really good book. I loved writing the Next Chapter that will follow on from the story. I wrote a lot. - Obinna
