Prefects

The month of March was a resounding success across all fronts. The Prefects ran a plethora of events throughout the month, starting with the new and positively received Balloon Shave Competition, where students attempted to shave a balloon covered in shaving cream with a razor. This creative and fun event garnered a respectable level of participation, with a number of students proclaiming it “their favourite event so far.”

The second week brought about the World’s Greatest Bake Sale in collaboration with the Prefects of Riverside Girls, with a large variety of delicious homemade baked goods on offer. This proved to be a big success, with the sale raising over $1000 for the cause. A week later, that success was matched by the introduction of the World’s Greatest Burger. Queues stretched through the hallways of the Year 7 area as all stock sold out, making it another brilliant day for the cause.

The final Friday entailed the highly anticipated Barber Showdown, where the executives got a new look by three highly talented barbers from our school. The atmosphere was electric as crowds cheered on their favourite barbers. Congratulations to Anthony from Year 9, our winner, as well as Vinh and Brendan from Year 9, our runner-ups.

The Great Shave Day on Monday was a grand celebration of the month. Our Prefect executives, Mr McLellan and Mr Dewane, received shiny new haircuts at the morning assembly from local representatives, Monica Tudehope, Jordan Lane, and Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown, alongside one of our raffle winners. This was followed at lunch by the mass shaving and colouring of over 100 participants.

Finally, the final day of March was an even greater celebration of the money and awareness raised throughout the month, marked by a mufti day and a BBQ. At the time of writing, we are inching ever closer to our goal of $50,000. Although the month has come to a close, donations are still open and would be greatly appreciated, and can be done on the official Epping Boys High School World’s Greatest Shave profile using the following link:

On behalf of the Prefects, we would like to thank all the students who signed up for this great cause, all the donors for their generosity, and everyone who got involved with such enthusiasm throughout the month by getting keen and getting around it. Have a fun and safe school holidays, and we’ll see you in Term 2.
