Maths

This time of year marks an important milestone for our students, as they complete their first Mathematics assessment for the year and begin receiving feedback. If you have any concerns or would like to discuss your son’s progress, please feel free to contact the Mathematics Department.
In mid-March, we held our annual Pi Reciting Competition. As Pi Day (14 March) fell on a Saturday this year, our top three students showcased their impressive efforts at a Friday morning assembly held shortly after. All participants received a canteen voucher, with prizes awarded as follows: $50 for first place, $30 for second, and $10 for third. In addition, any student who successfully recited π to at least 30 decimal places received a $5 canteen voucher.
We are hoping to expand this event next year with even more fun activities—perhaps even a pie-eating competition—so stay tuned!
Congratulations to the following students for their outstanding achievements in reciting π to more than 70 decimal places:
1st Place: William L (Year 10), 136 decimal places
2nd Place: Manas E (Year 7), 52 decimal places
3rd Place: Danny Y (Year 7), 32 decimal places
We also commend the following students who successfully recited π to at least 30 decimal places—an impressive feat of memory: 3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279
