Welcome to our final newsletter of Term 1.

I have been very impressed with the strong start our students have shown this term with learning routines and organisational structures. It is essential that at the end of each term our students spend some time in reflection about their learning. This is especially important after the first assessment task results have been released. The feedback provided by teachers with these tasks early on in the school year is crucial in shaping learning goals for next term:

  • What content needs to be reviewed?
  • What skill sets need to be refined?
  • What will it look like to fill these gaps ... no easy outs here "just study more" is not enough - a clear plan is required for improvement

A great stregth of our school is that our studnts challenge themselves outside the classroom:

Duke of Edinburgh

Last week, our Gold Duke of Edinburgh students went on their Practice Expedition through Long Plain in Kosciuszko National Park where they braved wind, sleet and some pretty decent snow. The teachers on the expedition Mitch Leggo, Nick Bell and Aidan Bondfield were extremely impressed with the positivity and resilience of the boys. See the separate report for photos - such a great experience for these students.

Pirates of Penzance

Our most wonderful Creative and Performing Arts staff have been working so hard each weekend and after school to get our boys plus some girls from Cheltenham Girls High School and Riverside Girls High School ready for our first musical since Les Miserables many years ago. Together, they are presenting a spectacular performance of Gilbert a Sullivan's beloved classic, The Pirates of Penzance. These talented students have dedicated countless hours outside of school to push themselves, hone their craft, and pour their hearts into every rehearsal. The result? A show that is not to be missed.

Please come along and see the show,  Book your tickets here!

Have a wonderful holiday break.

Students return Wednesday 22nd April.
