Cowan House

What a fantastic few weeks it has been for Cowan. With House Week and our final full-House event of the year, the Interhouse Athletics Carnival, there has been no shortage of blue around the school.

And what a day the Athletics Carnival was. From the first event to the last, our students showed up, got involved and gave everything for their House. To see a sea of blue across the track, in the field and cheering from the sidelines was something special. The result? An outstanding 2nd place overall! For Cowan House in our inaugural year, this is a result we should be incredibly proud of and another reminder of what happens when we turn up and compete together.

But we aren’t finished yet. Next up is Battle of the Bands on Tuesday 8 September (Week 8), and our Choir and Band have been working hard behind the scenes. Rehearsals are well underway, voices are warming up and instruments are being tuned. I cannot wait to see Cowan take to the stage for one final major competition of our inaugural year.

We have made our presence felt in the pool, on the stage and now on the track. There’s one more stage waiting for us. Let’s make it count. Go Cowan!

Gandhi House

What a start to Term Three for Gandhi. Week 2 saw our House spirit shine at the Interhouse Athletics Carnival, where Gandhi took out first place! A huge congratulations to all students who participated and represented Gandhi with such enthusiasm and pride.

Week 4 brought House Week, which provided another fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate their House spirit. Students competed in Uno, Minecraft Education and Handball/Volleyball competitions, earning valuable points for Gandhi while enjoying some friendly competition along the way.

We are now in full swing for our Battle of the Bands performance next Tuesday evening, 8 September. Our Year 12 leaders have done an incredible job composing and organising our choir and band performances. A huge thank you to all students across Years 7–12 who have committed their time and energy to rehearsals throughout an already busy term. We cannot wait to see Gandhi take the stage!

Lincoln House

The term has progressed well for Lincoln House as we took home a second place in Term Three’s House Week. Both our Middle and Senior students showed great prowess in the Uno competition, winning both divisions and it was so awesome to see the great Minecraft homes the students were able to put together in the Middle Minecraft competition.

I would also like to congratulate the following students for their contribution to the Interhouse Athletics Carnival earlier this term. Henry Nicholls and Naima Flavell for Sportsmanship, Flora Harvey and Nancy Hunt for Runner-Up Champion Girl, and Alex Clark for Champion Boy.

As the end of term approaches, please remember to bring in any House tokens you may still have at home. The competition is incredibly close, with only a small margin separating second and third place. To help Lincoln maintain its position, it is important that our token jars are as full as possible by the end of the term. If you have tokens on your desk, in your bag, or even hiding in the washing machine, please make sure they are placed in the Lincoln jar by the start of Week 9 so they can be included in this term’s count.

The PULSE and Quiz PCG competitions are also underway with Lincoln 5 leading in the Quiz and Lincoln 3 once again leading the PULSE.

Lastly, our Lincoln students are hard at work preparing for the final major event of the term, Battle of the Bands. With instruments being fine-tuned and vocal cords warmed up, students have been rehearsing each week and are ready to showcase their talents when they take to the stage next Tuesday.

Mandela House

As we reach the end of Week 7, only three weeks remain in the term, with plenty of exciting events still to come for Mandela House.

In Week 8, our Battle of the Bands group and House Choir will compete against the other Houses on Tuesday night. Both groups have been practising hard, and we look forward to seeing their efforts come together on stage. We wish all performers the very best and know they will represent Mandela with pride.

Congratulations also to Mandela House on finishing third at the Interhouse Athletics Carnival in Week 2. Mandela was strongly represented throughout the day, with several students receiving individual honours:
