Year 11 & 12

Year 12 - the final stretch

It is hard to believe that our Year 12 students are now entering the final stretch of their time at St George’s. With Mock Examinations, World of Work Week and a number of significant events still ahead, the coming weeks will be busy, exciting and, at times, perhaps a little overwhelming.

Recently, all Year 12 students received their Year 12 Timeline, with a digital copy also emailed to parents and guardians. I encourage students and families to keep these somewhere accessible and use them as a reference point over the coming weeks. There is a lot happening, and these resources contain the key dates, events and information needed as we move towards the final weeks of Year 12.

For our Year 12s, this is also an important time to remember that you are not doing this alone. There can be a great deal of pressure attached to the final weeks of school: finishing assessments, preparing for examinations, making decisions about what comes next and, at the same time, trying to enjoy the moments that remain.

Your teachers, PCG tutors, Heads of Learning Areas and the wider School community are here to support you. Ask the question. Seek the feedback. Let someone know when things are becoming difficult. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is reach out early rather than trying to manage everything yourself. There is still plenty ahead, so stay present, support one another and continue to make the most of your time together as a cohort.

Year 11 – looking to 2027

For our Year 11 students, the transition towards becoming our most senior students is beginning to feel increasingly real.

The first round of voting for our 2027 School Captains has now taken place, and our Top Six candidates will be notified very soon. In the coming weeks, these students will have the opportunity to speak at Chapel and share more about themselves, their ideas and the contribution they hope to make as leaders of St George’s in 2027.

I would like to congratulate every Year 11 student who put themselves forward for leadership. Stepping forward takes courage, and the willingness of so many students to contribute to our School says a great deal about this cohort. I am looking forward to seeing the next stage of the process unfold and our students continuing to learn more about those who may lead them next year.

Another exciting sign that Year 12 is approaching is the 2027 Leavers Jackets. Orders are now open and must be completed by Friday 11 September, the end of Week 8. A message was sent to students, parents and guardians with the link for ordering and the requirements of naming and sizing. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you, 2026 leaders

Our 2026 Student Leadership Team recently led their final Student-Led Chapel and are now beginning to wrap up their formal duties. 

Whilst not yet over, I wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank them for the immense effort they have put into their roles throughout the year. They have brought incredible ideas, worked collaboratively with one another and, perhaps most importantly, have been willing to put in the hard work behind the scenes to turn their ideas into action.

Leadership is not simply about holding a title or standing at the front of an assembly. Much of it happens in the conversations, planning, organisation and work that others may never see. Our 2026 leaders have embraced this responsibility, and I am incredibly grateful for the energy and commitment they have given to our school community.

As one group of students begins to conclude their leadership journey and another prepares to step forward, it is an exciting time for our senior students and for St George’s. Keep embracing, excelling and empowering Year 11s and 12s!
