The West Australian Pulse showcases some of the most outstanding artworks created by Year 12 Visual Arts students from across Western Australia. Students participated in a guided tour of the exhibition, gaining insight into the ideas, processes and materials used by emerging young artists. The tour encouraged students to think critically about contemporary art and reflect on the development of their own creative practice and folio work.

Seeing artwork produced by students only a few years older than themselves was both inspiring and motivating for our students. The exhibition highlighted the wide range of approaches, themes and techniques that can be explored through the Visual Arts, while also demonstrating the high standard of work being created by young artists across the state.

Following their visit to AGWA, students also explored exhibitions at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and visited the WA Museum Boola Bardip, further enriching their understanding of art, culture and creative expression.

The excursion was a valuable opportunity for students to engage with a range of artistic practices and gain inspiration for their own work as they continue their studies in Visual Arts.
