Year 10 – MyPath Week and Subject Selection Preparation

Year 10 students are now in the final stages of preparing for MyPath Week (Week 9) and the upcoming Subject Selection Meetings (Week 10).

Students have recently been selecting their Explore a Career activities, which will provide opportunities to engage with universities, industry professionals and training providers during MyPath Week.

These experiences are designed to help students:

• Explore potential career pathways

• Better understand subject requirements for future study and employment

• Gain insight into different industries and professions

• Make informed decisions about Year 11 subject selections

Students and families are encouraged to continue discussing pathway and subject selection options at home ahead of their counselling meetings.

Year 10 students have now commenced examinations. We wish all students the very best with their exams and encourage them to prepare thoroughly and seek support from their teachers where required.

Year 11 – University Pathways and Workplace Learning

Year 11 students recently attended presentations from:

• Curtin University

• Edith Cowan University (ECU)

• The University of Notre Dame Australia

These sessions provided students with valuable information regarding:

• University pathways and course options

• Entry requirements and prerequisites

• Campus life and student support services

• Alternative pathways into university

Students who participated in Workplace Learning have also completed reflection activities, allowing them to evaluate their experiences, identify key skills developed and consider how the placement may influence future career decisions.

We would also like to congratulate our Year 11 students on completing their examinations and Workplace Learning commitments this term.

Year 12 – Pathway Planning and Post-School Preparation

Year 12 students have now completed their examination period and Workplace Learning placements.

Workplace Learning continues to provide valuable opportunities for students to:

• Explore career interests

• Develop workplace skills and confidence

• Build industry contacts

• Confirm or refine future pathway decisions

The Careers team continues to work closely with students through individual pathway planning meetings as university applications, early offers and post-school decisions become increasingly important.

Students are encouraged to continue researching courses, reviewing prerequisites and considering backup pathway options as they prepare for university applications later this year.

Mazenod Careers Expo – Community Invitation

Tuesday Week 9

3:10pm – 5:00pm

Students, parents, and members of the Mazenod community are warmly invited to attend the annual Mazenod Careers Expo.

Representatives from universities, training providers, apprenticeship organisations, Defence, industry groups and employers will be available to discuss pathways and opportunities with students and families.

This is an excellent opportunity to gather information, ask questions and explore future possibilities.

Notre Dame University – Early Offer Applications Open

Applications are now open through the University of Notre Dame Australia's Early Offer Program.

Students can apply directly to Notre Dame free of charge and submit supporting documentation to strengthen their application.

Important Early Offer Dates:

• 1 September 2026 – Round 1 Offers

• 17 September 2026 – Round 2 Offers

• 1 October 2026 – Round 3 Offers

• 30 November 2026 – Applications Close

• 8 December 2026 – Round 4 Offers

Career Spotlight – Teaching and Education

Teaching remains one of the most rewarding professions, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

Teachers work across a wide range of settings including:

• Primary schools

• Secondary schools

• Special education settings

• Outdoor education and community programs

To become a teacher, students typically complete:

• A Bachelor of Education; or

• An undergraduate degree followed by a Graduate Diploma or Master of Teaching

Teaching pathways are available through universities including Curtin, ECU, Murdoch, Notre Dame and UWA.

Students who enjoy helping others learn, working with young people and developing strong communication skills may wish to explore teaching as a future career option.
