Wellbeing Moments

Welcome to our Wellbeing Moment: a chance to pause for a minute and reflect on something small but important. There’s nothing you need to do – just take from it whatever feels useful to you.

This week’s focus is Resilience.

Resilience is about handling setbacks and continuing anyway. It doesn’t mean everything goes well, and it doesn’t mean you don’t get frustrated or disappointed. It just means you find a way to keep going when things don’t go to plan.

Everyone experiences setbacks. A bad result, a mistake, a tough training session, a friendship issue, or just a day where things feel harder than usual. These moments are normal.

On those days it can help to remember:

  • Setbacks don’t define you
  • One moment or one day doesn’t decide how everything is going
  • You can reset and try again

Sometimes resilience looks like:

  • Getting something wrong, then having another go
  • Having a frustrating moment, then refocusing
  • Not performing how you wanted, but still showing up next time
  • Learning something, from what didn’t go well, instead of giving up

Most setbacks feel bigger in the moment than they do later. With time, they usually shrink.

And if you ever want someone to talk to, you’re always welcome to check in with your Head of Year or our College Psychologists.
