Year 8/9 Eagles Cup Team Progresses to Grand Final

Congratulations to the Mazenod College Year 8/9 Eagles Cup team, who have secured their place in the WA Football Division 1 Waalitj Cup Grand Final following an outstanding semi-final victory over Darling Range Sports College.

In a highly competitive match, Mazenod displayed excellent teamwork, determination and skill to record a convincing 6.4 (40) to 4.1 (25) win. The players showed great composure under pressure and worked tirelessly throughout the contest to earn their place in the championship decider.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment shown by the players throughout the season, as well as the dedication and guidance of the coaching staff. The team will now turn its attention to the Grand Final against Comet Bay College, to be played on Thursday, 18 June at Mineral Resources Park.

We wish the players and coaches all the very best as they look to finish their outstanding campaign on a high and bring home the Division 1 Waalitj Cup title.

Player Nominations - NOW OPEN

Player nominations are now open for the following 2026 ACC Representative All Star Teams:

• Boys Australian Football - Player Nomination Form  
• Boys Basketball - Player Nomination Form 

Students who are capable of competing at U19 WABL/Colts AFL level are asked to nominate for the opportunity to represent their school and their association.

To nominate, players must have the endorsement of their school Head of Sport or Sport Coordinator and must be of U19 representative quality. Positions are open to male and female Australian Football players from years 10 – 12, and to male and female Basketball players from years 9 – 12.

The cost of nomination is $27.50. Schools will be invoiced for this; the ACC will not accept payments directly from players.  

Players are required to attend selection trials and, if selected in the team, play on the scheduled tournament day against teams from School Sport WA (SSWA) and/or the Independent Girls School Sport Association (IGSSA). Any other commitments are at the discretion of the coaching staff.

 Nominations close on Thursday 25 June.
