Message from Principal Sarah

From Sarah Nightingale, Principal

As we approach the end of another busy term, I wanted to reach out and thank you all for your contributions in making our school a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment for our students.

As adults, it’s important that we take the time to periodically reflect on our school values of Responsible, Inclusive, Sagacious and Ethical and consider how we can model these for our students when interacting with others in and around the school. The school’s Statement of Values policy is available on our school website, and in hard copy from the front office on request. This policy sets out the expectations that we have of all members of the school community to treat each other respectfully.

The Department of Education’s Respectful Behaviours within the School Community policy also applies at our school and further outlines the important role that constructive collaboration and respectful communication play in building positive working relationships between home and school.

The staff and I are always striving to provide the best possible educational experience for every student. I want to acknowledge that there may be times when you disagree with a school decision or how a situation may have been managed. I am always open to respectful feedback about how we can improve, I ask that this please be shared in a constructive manner rather than through negativity, gossip or campaigns. I also ask for your understanding that at times, we need to make decisions for operational reasons that may not always be apparent or can’t be shared with the broader school community.

We all share responsibility for making our school an environment in which students can successfully learn and thrive. This includes modelling resilience and proportionality in response to disappointment or change.

If you have a genuine concern about your child’s education or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to reach out. Our Complaints Policy is also available on the school’s website and sets out the process for raising informal and formal complaints.

I look forward to these final months of the school year being productive ones. We have a jam packed Term 4 calendar ahead, with sports days, the fete, transition activities, camps, swimming and many other events to look forward to.

Thank you all for your partnership and ongoing support in creating a positive and caring school community.

Staffing update

At the end of this term, we farewell Amy Dyt. We wish Amy all the best in her move to the country and thank her for her commitment and dedication to NMPS over her time here. Sonia and Sandra will replace Amy at the reception at our Errol Street Campus.

Tom Drummond’s Acting Principal position at Carlton Gardens PS has been extended for Term 4, therefore Tom will not be returning to NMPS this year.

We farewell Kate Morris on the 9th October. We wish Kate all the best as she begins her family leave. Hailey Paynter will commence teaching 4E at the beginning of Term 4 through to the end of the year. EAL intervention classes will finish at the end of this term.

We have several staff members that will be taking leave in Term 4. These staff members will be covered by regular CRTs, where possible, to ensure consistency for the classes.
