From Kimalee Fernandes and Georgie Murphy, Junior School Science teachers
We have been blown away by the amazing inventions we have seen in the Invention Design Competition entries. There have been such incredible ideas, well done everyone! Here is a small selection of some of the entries….

All winners will be announced at our end of term assembly on Friday 18th Septmebr at 9:15am in the Molesworth St gym.
Prep - ‘On The Move’
The preps have been exploring vehicles that move on the water and in the air. They conducted an experiment to see whether objects sink or float, including making predictions, testing their theories and recording their results.
This week they have been revising what they have learnt this term, talking in groups and drawing memory tiles to show their understanding.

Year 1 - ‘Light & Sound’
The grade 1’s have been continuing to explore light and shadows, plus some extra physics lego building on the side.

Year 2 - ‘Push & Pull’
The grade 2’s have been learning all about different vehicles that move in the air and on land too, even having a play with our billy carts. They have also been revising all of the things they have learnt about forces and exploring the ‘Tinker Lab’.
They took apart old machines to discover how they work and whether they are magnetic or not.
