Term 3 Holiday Reset

The Term 3 holidays are finally here! After a busy term of classes, assessments, friendships, sport and everything else life throws at you, this break is a chance to rest, recharge and do things that make you feel like yourself again.

You don’t need to have every day planned. Sometimes the best holidays are the ones with a good balance of adventure, sleep-ins, time with friends and doing absolutely nothing.

Ways to Look After Yourself this Break

Take the pressure off

Not every holiday has to be exciting or productive. It’s okay if some days are quiet, boring or spent watching your favourite series. Rest is productive too.

Do something that fills your cup

Whether it’s basketball, gaming, reading, music, art, walking your dog or baking, make time for hobbies that genuinely make you feel good, not just busy.

Stay connected

Catch up with friends, message someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, or spend quality time with family. Feeling connected is one of the biggest protective factors for our mental health.

Move your body

You don’t need a gym membership. Go for a walk, kick a footy, ride your bike, dance in your room or explore a local trail. Even 20 minutes outside can help boost your mood.

Put the phone down sometimes

Social media can be fun, but it can also make it feel like everyone else is having a “better” holiday. Remember, you’re only seeing the highlight reel. Give yourself permission to unplug every now and then.

Holiday challenge ideas

  • Take one photo each day of something that makes you smile.

  • Visit a park or walking trail you’ve never been to.

  • Make the ultimate Term 3 holiday playlist.

  • Learn one new recipe or cook dinner with your family.

  • Finish that book, game or creative project you’ve been putting off.

If things aren’t feeling okay…

Holidays aren’t easy for everyone. If you’re feeling anxious, lonely, overwhelmed or things at home are difficult, you don’t have to deal with it on your own. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

One last thing…
