Connect Crew

As we begin to wind down for the end of term, our Connect sessions have shifted towards lower-cognitive activities that give students a chance to relax, reflect and enjoy spending time together.
This week, we revisited our ongoing theme of “What makes a great connection?” and reflected on the different ways students have connected with others throughout the term. This included thinking about listening, communication, showing respect, working alongside others and becoming more comfortable within the group.
Students took part in relaxed activities such as card games, informal conversations and reflection activities. We also completed our final puzzle for the term, which was a nice way to round out one of the quieter, collaborative activities students have enjoyed across the term.
Students also completed the final stages of their self-reflection paintings, bringing together the strengths, goals and personal qualities they had been exploring throughout the activity. A special mention goes to Idris for his creation of Brainiac. It was amazing to see him bring the character to life through his own ideas, creativity and attention to detail.
As the term comes to a close, the focus has been less about starting something new and more about recognising the connections that have already been built. It has been great to see students becoming increasingly comfortable within the group, sharing more of themselves and continuing to strengthen their relationships with both peers and staff.
Lego Club Recognition
A huge congratulations to Jacob McLeod, who was recognised for his outstanding efforts and contribution to Lego Club this term. Jacob received an award from Templeton Tennis Club, which includes a free term of tennis. A fantastic recognition of the effort and enthusiasm Jacob has brought to the club.
Crew 8 Monopoly Champion
After plenty of wheeling, dealing, property buying and negotiations, Crew 8 finally finished their Monopoly game, with Kaya taking out the coveted position of winner.
In Kaya’s own words, the victory was “thanks to capitalism.” A fitting way to finish what has been a very competitive and entertaining game.
