Year 8 Food Studies

Year 8S students have wrapped up their Taco design assessment in Food Studies this Term, and the results looked (and tasted) fantastic.

Given a range of options for each typical taco ingredient, students designed a taco to suit themselves or their families — and, unsurprisingly, most chose to please themselves first. The task asked them to think carefully about flavour combinations, balance and presentation before bringing their designs to life in the kitchen.

Year 7 & 8 Textiles

Term 3 has been a creative and hands-on term in Textiles, with our Year 7 and 8 students developing their hand sewing skills through exciting individual projects.

Our Year 7 students created colourful bunting, learning and practising a range of essential hand sewing techniques. Students developed their skills in running stitch, back stitch and blanket stitch, while carefully planning, constructing and decorating their designs. The project encouraged students to develop patience, accuracy and confidence as they worked through each stage of the construction process of their bunting project.

Our Year 8 students took their sewing skills to the next level by designing and creating their own soft toys. Using hand sewing techniques including running stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch and cross stitch, students transformed their ideas into unique, personalised creations. They also had opportunities to problem solve throughout the construction process and adjustments to ensure their finished toys were both func

It has been wonderful to see students build their confidence and independence while developing practical textile skills. We are incredibly proud of the creativity, persistence and effort demonstrated by our Year 7 and 8 students throughout Term 3!
