Introducing....Ms Ying Wu (Joanna)
Inclusion Aide
It was with great passion and anticipation that I began my role as an Inclusion Aide at Scoresby Secondary College in Term Two.
From the moment I arrived, I was genuinely impressed by the friendly, engaged students, the collaborative spirit among staff, and the approachable, supportive leadership. I told myself: this is the school where I truly belong.
I have spent nearly a decade working in student support roles in a local government secondary school.
At home, I have raised two teenage boys with my husband—our life sometimes feels like a real-life episode of Tom and Jerry!
Over the years, life’s twists and turns—like the invisible forces of the universe—have reshaped my perspectives, beliefs, and values, helping me grow into a more empathetic and grounded educator.
In my life, I find peace in the mountains, joy in the pages of a good book and beauty in the nice lyrics.
Yellow has been my favourite colour since childhood—it represents hope and happiness. As Forrest Gump’s mum once wisely said, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.”
On weekends, you’ll find me teaching Chinese at a local community school—something that brings me deep joy and helps me stay connected to languages and cultures while contributing to a vibrant learning environment.
To close, I would like to borrow a line from my farewell speech I once gave:
“As I step into the next chapter of my life, I do so with a heart full of appreciation and excitement for the future. I am prepared for new challenges, new experiences, and new opportunities, and I look forward to the journey ahead.”
