Careers Update

As Term 2 wraps up, we’d like to thank all students, families, and employers for their support in what has been a very productive and exciting end to the term.

Work Experience Week

The last week of term 2 saw our Year 10 students out in the community completing their Work Experience placements.

From schools and disability services to electrical trades, automotive workshops, beauty salons, retail outlets, science laboratories and even charity organisations – our students gained hands-on insight into a wide variety of industries.

A big congratulations to all students who also completed their White Card training which has been a new addition to our work experience program.

This card is an essential requirement for anyone entering a construction site, but its benefits extend far beyond the building industry.

It’s recognised nationally and demonstrates a solid understanding of workplace safety – a valuable credential no matter the future career path.  Having a White Card can open up further opportunities and will no doubt prove useful throughout students' lives.

We’re looking forward to hearing reflections and insights from students on their return – the feedback from hosts so far has been overwhelmingly positive!

Year 12 Career Planning

Over the past few weeks, Year 12 students have been involved in 1:1 pathway guidance sessions. These conversations have focused on refining post-school options and identifying the next steps in each student’s journey – whether that's university, TAFE, apprenticeships, employment, or a combination.

It's an exciting time, and students are beginning to take confident steps toward their future.

What’s Coming Up in Term 3

Next term promises to be just as eventful:

  • Year 10 students will head into the city for the Melbourne Career Expo, exploring further education, training, and employment options.
  • VCE students will attend the Local Careers Expo at Caribbean Gardens, an excellent opportunity to connect with institutions and employers and hear presentations from organisations like Headspace.
  • VTAC applications for university and tertiary study will also open in the term – students will receive step-by-step guidance to navigate the process with lunch time workshops and further 1:1 sessions.

July School Holidays

We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned rest over the school holidays. Don’t forget to check out the July School Holiday Programs which include career tasters, open days, and hands-on experiences that could spark ideas for the future.
