Aoife F - Year 11
NSC’s music ensembles have been practicing diligently in the lead up to 2026’s Jazz Night (taking place on the 23rd of May). The night will feature performances from all music students at Norwood, including several solos from our senior students, and the premiere performance of our new Jazz Ensemble. Accompanying our soloist singers at Jazz Night is the Plan B Big Band, who give our singing students the unique opportunity to perform with live players.
Tickets for Jazz Night are currently on sale, at $15 a ticket. It begins at 7pm and audience members are encouraged to bring their own picnic dinner and refreshments.
Other performances to look out for later in Term 2 are the Junior Vocal soiree on June 3rd and the woodwind/brass soiree on June 4th, both starting at 5:30pm in D7.
Norwood’s 2026 production, Sister Act, has dived straight into the rehearsal process. The cast ranges from students Year 7 to 12, all who tackle challenging music and choreography as part of the show. The blocking is complete for almost half of the show.
Rehearsals for the production band are also well underway, with five of our own students undertaking the task of learning almost 2 hours of music for the show.
Sister Act will be performed in August at Karralyka and is sure to be a highlight of the school calendar. We look forward to seeing you there!
