I trust that all students have had a restful break and feel energised, ready for a busy and productive Term 2. Preparations are currently underway for the much anticipated Jazz Night and the anticipation is building for Sister Act, the Musical.
In the first week of term, we held a special College Assembly to mark this important event. I would like to take this opportunity to particularly thank Captain Klebaner, a commissioned officer in the Australian Army, for his address to students and staff, as well as thanks to the students involved. Please take the time to read Captain Klebaner's address which has been published in this edition of the newsletter. Captain Klebaner shared with students the story of an Australian solider during the Battle of El Alamein in Egypt, during the North Africa Campaign in WW2.
A special thank you to the following students who took part in the formalities at the assembly:
Oren: Providing the College Captain address about the history of the ANZACs.
Emma: Recital of ‘In Flanders Fields.
Eamon: Raising and lowering of the flag.
Sarah and Bronson: The laying of the wreath.
Hayley: together with her Instrumental teacher, Lauren Innes, playing the Last Post and Reveille.
Thank you to all students for your respect and participation at what was a very special assembly.

Our annual Open Night was well attended last week, offering insights to prospective families about all aspects of our College. Thank you to the students who attended this event, participated in activities and answered a multitude of questions. We received high praise from families for our students, who conducted themselves as exemplary role models. Thank you also to Brooke, Toby and Emma for preparing and delivering speeches on the night.
We have just completed Transition Tours of our College during school hours. These have been running since February to support families of grade 6 students to visit our College prior to submitting their secondary school preferences. A large number of students have supported these tours and answered many questions from prospective families. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support of the College.
As a result of the current union industrial action, there will be no Interim/GPA reports. These were intended to be published on 22 May. Parents can still access the Compass portal to check due dates for assessment tasks and to see results. Teachers will continue to issue Letters of Concern as required.
