Wellbeing Support & Community Connections

At Norwood Secondary College, student wellbeing is always a priority. We aim to provide a safe, supportive environment where students and families feel confident accessing help when it’s needed, whether that’s within the school or through trusted community services.

Supporting Families – The Orange Door

The Orange Door is a free and voluntary Victorian Government service that supports children, young people and families who may be experiencing challenges such as family stress, safety concerns, or needing extra support at home.

The service works by connecting families with the right supports at the right time, including parenting support, family services, and specialist assistance where required. It is important to note that The Orange Door is a voluntary service, meaning families choose whether to engage with the support offered.

At times, the Wellbeing Team may suggest The Orange Door as an option for additional support beyond the school setting. Our role is always to work collaboratively with families, ensuring any support pathways are approached in a respectful, informed and supportive way.

If you would like to learn more about The Orange Door or discuss whether it may be appropriate for your family, please feel free to reach out to the Wellbeing Team.

Open Night – “Pop into Wellbeing”

The Wellbeing Team loved being part of the annual Open Night, welcoming families into our space and showcasing the support available to students.

Our theme for the night was “Pop into Wellbeing”, with fidget poppers, popcorn and lollipops adding a fun and engaging touch. It was a great opportunity for families to experience firsthand how inviting, supportive and student-focused the Wellbeing Centre is.

A Reminder to Our School Community

We would like to take this opportunity to remind students and families that the Wellbeing Team is here to support in a range of ways.

Support may look like:

  • A quick circuit breaker during a challenging moment

  • Help to work through a difficult day or situation

  • Short-term wellbeing check-ins or structured support sessions, with links to additional support where needed

No concern is too small, early support can make a big difference. We encourage students to reach out to their child’s Head of Year Level if support is needed.

At Norwood, wellbeing is a shared responsibility, and we are committed to working alongside our students and families to ensure everyone feels supported, safe and connected.
