Earlier this year, one of our Year 8 cohort applied for the ACMI+ RMIT Young Creator’s Lab. Hayden Betts was selected for this program along with eight other students from across Victoria. This three-day event connected students interested in game design with industry experts and video game professionals to pitch their ideas and show their work.
Hayden and the other students met with game development studio, House House, famous for ‘Untitled Goose Game’. The professionals helped to guide students through game development and coding. This led to a two-day mini exhibition of student game concepts and beta designs & testing. This exhibition helped students gather feedback and make professional connections. Hayden is looking to continue his game development career and the creation of his original concept, Habitat 666.
“It was a great experience for everyone at all different levels of game design. Everyone got something out of it, whether it was pen & paper or prototype testing.” – Hayden Betts.
