Disability and Inclusion
On Tuesday 3 December 2024, we celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
The day gives us an opportunity to recognise the vital contributions of people with disability across our communities. It offers a chance for us to commit to make the world better and fairer for people with disability, and to ensure their voices are heard in decisions that affect them.
At Greensborough College, we have placed a relentless focus on disability, inclusion and authentic learning. Under the leadership of Callum Harber, we have had a fruitful year implementing inclusive practices at whole-of-school and in-class level. We have
Developed policies
Implemented Support Structures
Provided access to equitable learning opportunities
Differentiated curriculum
Planned for individual learning through Individual Education Plans (IEP)
Implemented Learning Support Plan
Developed a process for collecting data for Disability and Inclusion Profiles
Enhanced quality teaching for all students
Next year we have resourced a Disability and Inclusion Support Teacher in Jacqueline Melia and a Disability and Inclusion Education Support Officer to be appointed next week.
Our own students have established an action group called the Disability Education Team and they meet regularly to influence school activities and processes and to provide a support network for students. We are proud of the way our students have used their initiative in this space.
Vale Class of 2024
The Graduation Ceremony was held on Thursday 21st of November at Latrobe University. It was a wonderful evening, and both a privilege and an honour to celebrate the wonderful achievements of the Class of 2024. The Captains farewelled their peers with emotional speeches and students received their graduation certificates and subject awards. Congratulations to Ajax Whitehead for receiving the Principal’s Award, Olivia Hickey for receiving the Ampol Best All Rounder Award, Gavin Easterbrook for receiving the Jaga Jaga Resilience Award and Indiana Morris for receiving the ADF Leadership Award.
For the graduates I would like to remind them that learning doesn’t stop here. The knowledge you’ve gained through your years at Greensborough College is just the beginning. It’s the foundation upon which you will build your future. Keep your curiosity alive. Seek out new experiences, continue to ask questions, and embrace opportunities to learn from everyone and everything around you.
As you go forward, I urge you to stay true to your values. Be kind. Be compassionate. Be courageous.
On behalf of the school community, I wish all graduates the very best in everything they set out to do.
VCE Results are released on December 12th and the students will be having their final pathways meeting with Jane Alexander and Andrew Ericksen to finalise their tertiary selections. We wish all of our students the very best as they transition from school to broader horizons.
