Year 8 Camp

Our Year 8 camp to Safety Beach was such an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived, excitements filled the air as we settled into our cozy cabins, unpacked our luggage, and acclimatised. Sharing these spaces was not only fun, but it gave us an opportunity to strengthen friendships, and to make new connections.
Our days were jam-packed, and our enthusiastic camp leaders, and teachers, kept us entertained with many games and fun activities. Whether it was quizzes, trivia, sports games, or planking competitions, we were all smiles throughout, and these experiences brought us closer together as a group.
One of our most memorable moments was when we went Kayaking at Safety Beach. While it was a little too chilly for an enjoyable swim, the cool breeze and sparkling water made it a truly serene experience, and it was funny to see some of us fall from our Kayaks into the water. I am still convinced that some people did this on purpose, which makes it even more humorous.
Mealtimes were almost as enjoyable as the activities as the food was very tasty, and plentiful, and while very few of us enjoy setting up the dining tables and doing dishes, we still managed to have fun in our Duty Groups, and everything ran smoothly…well most things. There may be a dirty fork or two in the clean drawer.
After packing our things and ensuring that our cabins were clean (they weren’t), we farewelled Don Bosco Camp and made our way to the Enchanted Adventure Garden which added another touch of magic to the camp. The thrilling giant slide had everyone screaming with joy (and fear), and the intricate mazes challenged us to work together to problem-solve, although some of us still got lost.
The bus ride home was quiet and long, as most people nodded off to sleep, or were too exhausted to do too much. As we departed the bus, grabbed our things and said our goodbyes, there was an energy around the group that felt as if we’d bonded over the three days, and I think this sense of togetherness will last for years to come.
Overall, camp was an awesome time, and I am so glad I attended. 10/10 would recommend!
