Principal's Message

So many wonderful things have been happening across our school and the past two weeks certainly have demonstrated this!

It was a glorious afternoon for our Start of Year Community Picnic. So lovely to see so many families at Woodlands Park connecting with each other, school councillors and staff to mark the start of another big school year!

Last week we had had 37 students compete in the district swimming carnival at Keilor East Leisure Centre. What a fantastic achievement to represent our school! Congratulations to them all! Good luck to Georgia, Ethan S, Charli, Sienna, Nathaniel, Alex Lawson and Tiffany who will now complete in the Divisional Carnival next week!

We also had a wonderful special assembly last week recognising and celebrating Lunar New Year, along with a special guest appearance by Moonee Valley City Council Mayor, Dr Roser Iser and Councillors Samantha Bryne and Hamish Jones to officially launch the Active Pathways program, providing designated routes for walking and riding to and from school.

This week our school photos were on Tuesday, and our newly formed Junior School Council and Green Teams have had their first meetings for the year. The Green Team have led the way with the ENPS Clean Up Australia Day today, while the JSC have begun a vote to pick the designs for our new ENPS winter scarves coming out this year! These scarves came from students Summer and Allegra, taking action last year and proposing this additional uniform item for our school! Keep an eye out for those coming along with our ENPS beanies this year!

Over the past two weeks I have also had the pleasure to have lunch with and hear some fantastic and very innovative ideas to improve our school from Stella (3SM), Chloe (1MH), Macie (2SB), Ana (5RZ), Sara (6AI) and their selected friends, who were the recipients of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Student of the Week Awards. Stella, Chloe, Macie, Ana and Sara all received a free lunch order from Classroom Cuisine and got to have lunch with me as their prize for being safe, kind and respectful at school. This is always a highlight of my week!

School Council

Our 2026 School Council is now finalised following our call for nominations. As a result, we congratulate Ben Suter, Melanie Bell, Mahmoud Amirgholi and Raffaela Ceddia as the elected parent members for the two-year tenure of March 2026 - March 2028. We also congratulate Alice Stephens, Fiona O'Reilly and Darcy Wynd as the DET employee representatives.

We take the opportunity to again thank Jodie Elliot, Jenny Dinh and Morgan King for their contributions to School Council for the past years.

As new School Council members, Melanie and Raffaela, along with our School Employee representatives Alice Stephens, Fiona O’Reilly and Darcy Wynd will join our next School Council meeting with existing members, on Monday 16th March. This meeting will also elect office bearers into their roles for the year, including School Council President, Vice President and Treasurer roles.

Monday 16th March will also be an opportunity for our community to attend our 2025 Annual Public meeting. This will be held at 6pm. The purpose of this meeting is to share with our community our Annual Report from 2025. Details for this can be found on the School Council page.

Future Directions at ENPS from 2026

In this week’s newsletter, we share an important update for ENPS from 2026. I encourage you to read that update later in the newsletter.

Home and School Partnership Meetings

Thank you to everyone who attended our Home and School Partnership meetings. This is such a valued time for both parents and teachers, working in partnership for your child’s learning and growth. We thank all families for their support of the early dismissal as this really ensured protected time for teachers to meet with each family.

Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback from families and staff, we have made a commitment to adopting a similar model (of early dismissal) towards the end of Term Two, in line with our Semester One Reporting timeline for Parent-Teacher Interviews. This will again provide dedicated time for families to meet with teachers 1:1 to reflect on your child’s report and learning progress for the Semester.

2027 Foundation Open Day and Enrolments

A reminder that there is a Department of Education (DET) state-wide enrolment process and timeline for Foundation in 2027. If you have a child/ren to be enrolled at ENPS in Foundation in 2027, please note that our Open Day will be on Thursday 30th April and Friday 1st May, across designated sessions. Enrolment applications will be accepted from Week One, Term Two – Monday 20th April onwards. 2027 Foundation enrolments are due to the office by Friday 26th July 2026.

I take the opportunity to remind families that we do have a school enrolment policy. We encourage existing families with children ready to start school in 2027 to get their enrolment forms into the office early so we can begin processing them to confirm places as soon as we can with the state timeline. For more information, please see the Enrolment page on our website.

Newsletter Feedback - Thank You!

I take the opportunity to also thank the 22 family members who provided feedback to us about our newsletter. We really value your thoughts and insight. So much work goes into our newsletters fortnightly and we want to continue to share the wonderful things happening across our school in the best way possible. Check out the summary from the feedback in this newsletter.

Wishing everyone a well-deserved wonderful long weekend. See you all next week.
