Mandarin

These past five weeks celebrating Lunar and Chinese New Year have been amazing and it was so fantastic to see so many families at assembly last week celebrating with us. A big shout out as well to the many students who presented their work at the assembly.
The Foundations and Year Ones helped create our amazing posters with all the different zodiac animals - a BIG thank you to Sarah in 1AM for helping to read out the animals in Mandarin.
Our Year Six students also helped with our gym decorations by creating our hung lanterns.
Presentations from Year Two included stories of Nian which the students wrote in their own words and designed their own monster for. Year Threes and Fours shared posters about their inquiry of The Great Race of The Zodiacs, using their knowledge of Chinese numbers to create posters depicting the race and order of animals.
Year Fives created presentations using researched traditions and customs, they also had the chance to create couplets and paper cuttings to bring in luck into their classrooms this new year.
Thank you to Kevin 5JG, Leander 5JG, Lucia 5RZ, Elisha 3MG, Ally 3SM and Sydney 1AM for their contributions to assembly, hosting in Mandarin and sharing how their families celebrate together.
Lǐ lǎo shī and Wáng lǎo shī can’t wait to start exploring our new inquiry topics with you all this week!
Happy Lantern Festival!
