Humanities

This term in Humanities, our Year 7s completed their Geography unit, specifically focusing on the concept of liveability. Students explored factors that shape how we experience our environments, from access to housing, services and green spaces, to safety and transport, and community connections.
Putting their learning into action, students were challenged to design their own dream town as part of their assessment task and apply a range of key geographical skills in the process. A particular focus was on using BOLTSS (Border, Orientation, Legend, Title, Scale, and Source) to create clear, accurate and visually engaging maps of their imagined communities.
And, wow, we were impressed with the results! The Year 7s demonstrated incredible creativity, critical thinking and impressive attention to detail as they carefully planned towns that balanced lifestyle, sustainability and practicality. From coastal communities to bustling modern cities, each design reflected thoughtful consideration of what makes a place liveable.
Well done on your effort in Term 2, Year 7s!
Building on Term 1’s History unit, our Year 8 cohort applied their extensive knowledge of Medieval Europe through their Student Curator CAT. Students selected a topic of personal interest, ranging from castles and knights to religion, warfare and daily life, and conducted detailed historical investigations.
To present their findings, students created a range of engaging displays. Many produced outstanding posters and interactive presentations, while others brought their topics to life through some incredible dioramas and models.
Our classrooms came alive during the Gallery Walk lesson, where students showcased their work and explored each other’s displays. It was fantastic to see students actively engaging, asking questions and appreciating the hard work that went into their assessment tasks.
Well done, Year 8s! We are incredibly proud of the effort, creativity and enthusiasm you demonstrated with this unit of work.
