Careers and Pathways

Victorian Careers Show
On Thursday 14 May, the Year 11 cohort attended the Victorian Careers Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of post-school pathways, including university courses, TAFE programs, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment opportunities. Throughout the day, students engaged with exhibitors, attended presentations, and gained valuable insights into future study and career options. The excursion encouraged students to think about their future pathways and inspired as they begin planning for life beyond school.
Careers and Subject Expo
Blackburn High School recently hosted our annual Careers and Subject Expo, providing students with valuable opportunities to explore future learning and career pathways. The event brought together a wide range of tertiary institutions, training providers, industry representatives, and employers, creating an engaging and informative experience for students across the school.
For our Year 9 and 10 students, the Expo was particularly beneficial as they begin the important process of selecting subjects and electives for next year. Students were able to speak directly with teachers and students, ask questions about different study areas, and gain a deeper understanding of how their subject choices can connect to future pathways.
Senior students also benefited greatly from the Expo, with access to a diverse range of post-school opportunities. Representatives from universities, TAFEs, apprenticeship and traineeship providers, defence services, and various industries were available to discuss courses, employment options, and career pathways.
These conversations provided students with valuable insights into the many opportunities available beyond secondary school and helped them make informed decisions about their futures.
We thank all exhibitors, staff, and students who contributed to making the event such a positive and worthwhile experience, and we look forward to continuing to support our students as they plan for their futures.
