Year 12 VTAC Applications 

Year 12 students were recently introduced to the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) application process, including creating a VTAC account, researching course options, understanding preference selection, and exploring the range of support available through Equity Schemes and alternative entry pathways.

Students will continue to receive valuable support from both tertiary institutions and the Careers Team as they work through each stage of the application process.

VTAC & Careers Support

This week Deakin University Presented information on:

• Equity Schemes

• The Deakin Guarantee

• Alternative entry pathways

• Student support programs and services

Week 3: VTAC Registration 

During Explore classes, students will complete their VTAC registration with support from the Careers Team.

Students must bring the following:

• Laptop

• Mobile phone (required for multi-factor authentication)

• Personal email address and password

• Date of birth

• VCAA Student Number (this will be provided to students)

• USI (Unique Student Identifier)

• Residency or visa details (if applicable)

• Results from any prerequisite tests already completed (e.g. UCAT or other required assessments)

• Their correct legal name as it appears on official documentation

   

Week 4: Swinburne University Presentation

Swinburne University will provide information about:

• Scholarships

• Financial assistance and support options

• Tips for preparing a strong scholarship application

   

Individual Careers Appointments

Students are invited to book individual appointments with a Careers Practitioner to review their VTAC profile, discuss course preferences, and ensure they are exploring all available opportunities.

To get the most out of these appointments, students should bring:

• A draft list of course preferences

• Questions about courses, pathways, Equity Schemes, scholarships, or VTAC

• Ideas about their post-school plans and goals

   

We encourage all Year 12 students to take advantage of these support opportunities.

Open Days & Early Entry Programs

With university and TAFE Open Days taking place throughout July and August, now is the ideal time for students, particularly those in Years 10–12, to become information rich and start researching the wide range of opportunities available after school. 

Whether you already have a career goal in mind or are still exploring your options, attending Open Days is one of the best ways to gain first hand insight into courses, campuses, facilities, student life, and future pathways.

Please see the attached Open Days Information Guide for key dates, registration links, and tips to help you make the most of your visits. We encourage students and families to take advantage of these opportunities and begin gathering the information needed to make informed decisions about future study and career pathways.

Students should also explore the range of Early Entry Programs offered by many universities. These programs can provide an alternative pathway into tertiary study and may consider factors such as Year 11 results, school recommendations, personal statements, leadership, community involvement, and extracurricular achievements. 

Early Entry can offer greater certainty and help reduce some of the pressure associated with Year 12 applications.

If you've not yet started investigating your post-school options, now is the perfect time to begin. The more research you do now, the better prepared you'll be to make confident decisions about your future.
