EMR Cross Country Results

A strong team of 49 Wantirna College students headed out to the Yarra Glen Racecourse on Thursday 11th June for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Championships. Students were met with cold conditions and a tough track, including hills, mud and sharp turns. Only the top 12 in each race would make it through to the State finals making each race extremely competitive. Read on below for the results.

Highlights

Congratulations to Chloe Grund who placed 1st in the Girls 14 Year event, running a time of 10min 48sec, and won by over 45 seconds! Chloe also was victorious at EMR last year and in 2024, making it a three-peat. 

A fun fact to explain how impressive Chloe’s time is, Chloe ran the fastest time for all girls across all age groups on the day, and she was more than 30 seconds faster than any other girl who competed, a simply remarkable effort and a star of the future!

Also worthy of a special mention are Lukas Nguyen 4th, Chase Makaay 6th, Ashlyn Frangos 12th, Harry Hayes 12th, and Jayvel Singh 12th who all have progressed to the State Championships by finishing in the top 12. Wantirna will have a total of 6 students who will compete at State on Thursday 16th July, our biggest representation in years.

Lastly, congratulations to our 14 Year Boys team of Lukas Nguyen, Chase Makaay, Ben Macdonald, and Aidan Griffin who finished 2nd in the teams championship. This was our best teams result on the day, congratulations boys!
