After a restful holiday break, it was fantastic to welcome staff and students back last Monday. Although we have only been back for two weeks, there’s already lots to celebrate in the sporting arena with our Year 9 superstar runner, Chloe Grund, taking out first place at the recent Cross Country State Championships (for the 3rd year in a row!) in a time of 11.10mins. Our Senior AFL girls and boys’ teams have also made it through to the State Championships and we will be cheering them on and hoping they take out first place too!

Pathways & Curriculum Info Expo – What a Great Night!!

Thank you to everyone who came along on Tuesday night to speak with teachers and staff about subject choices and pathways beyond school. An absolute highlight of the night was having 27 external providers from universities, TAFEs and other organisations such as PGA Golf Institute, Student Exchange, AFL, Cricket Australia, Australian Defence Force, Police – the list goes on. 

After visiting the Careers Expo in the city, I have no doubt that our Pathways Expo on Tuesday rivalled what I experienced on the weekend. It was great to see students from all year levels spending time in the Pathways Hub, Senior Centre and D Block engaging in quality conversations and seeing the extensive number of pathways and opportunities available.

With over 65 choices of subjects at Year 9/10 and 3 VCE pathways at Year 11/12, I encourage students to continue talking with their families, teachers and peers to ensure they are making informed decisions as they make choices about their pathways next year and beyond.

Student Survey Data

Early in Term 2, our students participated in the annual Attitudes to School Student Survey which all Victorian Government schools are expected to engage in. We were overwhelmed by students reporting significantly improved positive endorsement in every measure for a second year in a row. 

These are incredible results and provide valuable feedback which endorse the great work teachers are doing to improve consistent quality teaching practices across the College.

Furthermore, the results illustrate the high expectations and belief our teachers have in students to achieve their very best which, research suggests, is one of the most important factors in improving outcomes.
