Knowledgeable and Confident Self-Identities

Term 1 has provided wonderful learning experiences for Group 1 in all aspects of the curriculum – Identity, Community, Wellbeing, Learning and Communication. “What are my interests” theme has been an avenue for our little learners to learn more about themselves in terms of responding to their names, identifying photos of themselves, knowing their peers, learning about body parts, labelling their emotions, communicating needs and wants and sharing their likes and dislikes. The structured learning environment has supported our learners in using effective routines to help make predicted transitions smooth and in building secure attachment with teachers and peers. Using their visual and object schedules, they confidently explore and engage with social and physical environments through relationships and play.

 

It has been amazing to witness the beautiful connections and friendships that have been made. Through different play and social activities such as group circle times, they have learnt to cooperate with others and negotiate roles and relationships. They have shown a growing enthusiasm to engage in and contribute to shared play experiences. They have expressed themselves through choices of play engagements or toys and have become more willing to wait for a turn or to share. “Respecting our Environment” is another important learning this term and we are proud of our little learners for showing an increasing respect for our environment by helping in packing away learning resources after rotations and play sessions.
