Comedy Workshop

Mr Andrew Ericksen

Melbourne is famous for its annual Comedy Festival which hosts hundreds of different comedians from across the world as they entertain the masses through observational anecdotes, slapstick & tales of the absurd.  This year saw Greensborough College hold its first Comedy Crash Course, facilitated by the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.  Professional Comedian, Oliver Coleman ran a workshop with our High Ability English students.

Our students learned about the importance of comedic timing, gags and being able to hold a crowd’s attention.  In groups students devised infomercial-style presentations for a range of preposterous products.  Finally, students implemented comedy of repetition into skits. Oliver’s workshop helped to bring out the best in our budding comedians and writers.  We hope to hold more of these opportunities for students in the future.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival holds its annual Class Clowns competition early in 2026.  For more information, please see their website - https://classclowns.com.au/
