CHES Excursion

On Friday the 30th of May students from Greensborough College, Ms Hollamby and myself were invited to the Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) for their annual Expo. CHES offers high-ability students the opportunity to undertake challenging new electives, VCE Subjects, and undertake University courses while still in school. Located in South Yarra, students were able to tour the amazing facilities CHES have to offer.
The morning keynote speech was given by Professor Eva Kyndt, who discussed the how students can ideate, plan and prepare for an ever-changing world of work. Students could even take an online quiz to help them consider potential new jobs such as Robotics Ethicist, Genetics Coach or Algorithm Interpreter ( https://100jobsofthefuture.com/quiz/ ). Students then learned how studies at CHES subjects are undertaken through a hybrid of online classes, in-person workshops and independent studies. Finally, students explored the vertical school and met with a range of universities and CHES educators to learn about the subjects on offer.
With 2026 subject selection early in Semester 2, students going into Year 10, 11 and 12 are encouraged to peruse CHES’ subject offerings. Please see their website ( https://ches.vic.edu.au/ ) or contact Jennifer Hollamby or myself to discuss further.
