PE- Over the last few weeks, our whole school netball program has seen the students participating in a range of skill based games, skill development and mini games. It has been fantastic to see our exciting netballers lead rotations during PE.
May Madness- At our last assembly, our House Leaders were presented with the trophies for the most participants during the Month of May Sports Carnival. Each week a selected sport was played across the school including netball, down-ball, soccer and basketball Congratulations to Macarthur (P-2), Farrer (3-4) and Macarthur and Farrer who tied (5-6).
Mixed Division Netball On the Thursday the 13th of June our mixed netball team got up early and drove to Kardinia Park. This was for the Division Stage. We played our first game at 10:30. We played 5 games in total, out of 5 we won 3. Some of the other schools that we played included Bellaire, Barwon Heads, Nazareth, Our Lady Star of the Sea and St Leonards. Everyone had a lot of fun. We placed 4th overall, a great day. It wrapped up at 2:30pm. A big thanks to Coach Christine Graham for her support throughout the carnival.
Thank you, Paige and Ava
District Football On the 31st of May some of the 5/6s went to play footy against other schools. We got there at 9:30 and our first game was at 10:00. Our first game was against Mt Duneed we all tried our best but we still lost. When we had our last game, it started to rain so we didn’t get to play it. At the end of the day, we came second overall winning 3 games and losing 1. We all had so much fun. Thank you, Hudson N.
District Netball On Friday the 31st of May the 5/6s went to Banyul Warri Fields, Torquay to represent Moriac for the lightning premiership football and netball. There were 2 netball teams and 1 football team. We got off the bus and made our way over to the netball courts. We put our bags down then started to warm up. Before we knew it we were playing our first game. Each game had 7 minute halves. My team, Moriac B played Winchelsea first and won 16-0. Next, we played the other Moriac team and it was a close game, but they won by one point. After this we played many more games and progressed to the finals. In the semi final we played Anglesea, a team we lost to earlier. The other Moriac team were also in the semi finals and they were playing Mirripoa. We both won and progressed into the grand final. Before we knew it the siren sounded it was already half time, Team B was up 2-0. But in the second half it became close, the other Moriac team was trailing behind by 1 point, they had the ball and it was travelling fast down their end,but the siren sounded and Team B had won. We all celebrated and Kaitlyn was awarded the trophy. My favourite part was the feeling when we won the grand final and celebrating with my teammates. Thank you, Meg R
