Prep
WOW! We are almost halfway through the year and it has been an incredible journey so far. It is safe to say we are very proud of how our Prep students have flourished in the schooling environment and we are looking forward to what the rest of the year has to offer!
Reading
Our students have explored the wonderful world of nonfiction texts and their minds are filled with wonderful facts about animals and so much more!
As we read, it is important that we take notice of the new information we are learning throughout the book and students have been practising this skill - synthesising! Such a fun word to try and say too! We have also identified important parts of the books we read and what they might be teaching us!
Writing
It has been fantastic to see our Prep students create their own books and I think we can all agree that their dedication to learning new letters and sounds has been brilliant. Our book boxes and classroom libraries have welcomed new additions in the form of nonfiction books - created by our Preps! So if you want to learn about cats, otters, snakes, Minecraft and much more, you know who you can ask!
Maths
Subitising numbers to 10 and adding collections together is an important and valued mathematical skill. Our Preps have demonstrated persistence as we have explored these skills through many different avenues. We have been blown away by our students' desire to continue to challenge themselves and solve problems.
Bravehearts
Our students were very lucky this week to see Ditto and the wonderful team at Bravehearts! We learned many important lessons such as warning signs, trusted adults and how we can make sure we and our friends feel safe. Students received an activity book to take home to support this conversation with their families.
Reminders
Seesaw
You will have noticed an increased amount of posts on Seesaw. Our Prep students have been taking these photos themselves and uploading them to Seesaw. It has been amazing to see families commenting on these and talking about their child's learning at home. This will continue throughout the year and we will experiment with more than just photos on Seesaw, so watch this space!
5/6 Market
You will have seen a post on Compass with information about this but we wanted to put in a little reminder here too. If you haven't seen the post on Compass yet, please go and check it out. It is titled "5/6 Market".
Little Mermaid
On Thursday we are heading off to see this wonderful production performed by GSODA at the Geelong Arts Centre. Our students are very excited to see this and we are very lucky to have this opportunity!
We wish you all a safe and happy mid-year break! We look forward to welcoming you all back on the 15th of July!
