Year 5/6
Economics and Business - Market Day
The countdown is on! Our students are putting the final touches on their stalls for the much-anticipated Market Day, happening next Wednesday. This event is a highlight of our school calendar, showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit of our students.
Over the past few weeks, the students have been busy planning, designing, and preparing their stalls. From handmade crafts and baked goods to innovative games and art projects, there’s something for everyone. They have embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, learning valuable skills in business, marketing, and customer service along the way.
Market Day is not just about shopping; it’s an opportunity for our students to develop confidence, communication skills, and a sense of community.
Maths
What a huge last few weeks of term it has been. Whilst we have continued a strong focus on Number and Place Value, we have also completed a unit on Shape- focusing on three-dimensional objects with their nets and features. Stats has been another unit where we looked to construct and compare sets of data displays, including side-by-side column graphs comparing variables such as data from Year 5 students and Year 6.
English
As we come to the end of term, students have finished our novel studies of Coraline and Specky Magee. Students discussed ideas of character, setting and plot, and how they have positive and negative effects on the main protagonist.
5/6 Production
What a performance!!!!! Just last night, the 5/6 students with support from Mrs Edwards and Mr Smith produced one magnificent School Production. Throughout the year, these 5/6 students have been busy, planning dances, creating costumes and props all while learning songs to finally complete Masks and The Election.
