Senior Girls Soccer 2026
Our senior girls Soccer team took to the field out in Truganina to compete in the Western Metropolitan Region finals. The standard at this level is a significant step up and we knew that the day will be very competitive and we would need to play well as a squad to get through.
Our first game was against Alice Miller School. The girls conceded a goal early in the match to be 0-1, however with a quick change of tactics we soon dominated possession and scored 2 brilliant goals to take the lead and hold onto the win. Stef R, Angelique L, Marielle P and Bella S were stand out players in this game.
Our second game was against Western Heights, which for us was an unfortunate fixture schedule. The School Sport Australia championship for under 18 girls soccer was held at the same time as this competition. We were without our star midfielder Maisey Gasper for this game. Maisey was awarded Victorian MVP and selected in the All Australian Merit team during her time at national level.
The game against Western should have been the final as they had a strong team and are usually playing their soccer teams in the Premier League. Had we been at full strength, our midfield set up would have looked a bit different and an additional attacking option would have helped. The outcome for this game did not go our way and the girls were disappointed given we had been so competitive since Year 7 at this stage of competition.
We were expecting to play a third fixture, however, our opponents Lakeview Secondary gave a walkover.
For the year 12 students in this team, I would like to thank them for their contribution to school soccer at their time at the college. They have been a fantastic team on and off the pitch, committed to the sport and studies.
