Y9: Outdoor Education Martial Arts Incursion

Over the past two weeks, our Year 9 outdoor education students participated in a specialised Martial Arts incursion delivered by Complete Martial Arts. The program gave both our male and female students the opportunity to develop practical self-defence techniques.

Our female students focused on skills inspired by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, learning groundwork techniques and how to defend themselves from attacks on the ground. Each session encouraged critical thinking, physical endurance and personal growth, as students stepped outside their comfort zones.

Meanwhile, our male students explored close-quarter combat, developing strength and body control through coordinated foot, hand and body movements. They learned how to use positioning and body weight, rather than muscle strength, to effectively manage an opponent.

This valuable incursion not only promoted physical fitness but also encouraged mindfulness, resilience and respect, and as always, our students participated with enthusiasm and a positive attitude throughout these sessions.
